As we move deeper into winter, yet closer to the slowly awakening light of spring, it is the perfect time to listen to the silence inside us and to what it has to say. What wants attention in our lives? What parts of us want to awaken? What do we want to move toward? We will use a new poem each week to explore these themes and look closely at the poems’ images and words that resonate most with us, share thoughts, and write from what they evoke in us.

No experience with poetry or writing is necessary, although there will be an opportunity to write. (Note: This is not a typical poetry or writing workshop and we will not be analyzing or interpreting. We will instead be feeling and experiencing the imagery and music of the poem, however it lands up on us).

Susan has an extensive background in both psychology and poetry, having worked as a counselor in higher education for several years and as a facilitator of poetry exploration workshops in hospitals, yoga studios, nursing homes, and retreat centers. Her poetry has been published in many journals and anthologies and she is working on a full-length book of poetry.
