SESSIONS 1 & 2 – STRESS REDUCTION & MINDFULNESS FOR TEENS
with Harriet Rubenstein, LCSW

Teens have so many demands today with school, friendships, family, activities, emotions and technology. Life is busy, stressful and overwhelming. As a result, many feel anxious, worried, sad or depressed. It is so important for teens to learn healthy and positive coping skills to deal with emotions and stress.

Each 3-week session of this program will provide skills and strategies to help them throughout their lives. Stress reduction and mindfulness skills teach teens to:

  • be and stay in the present
  • be aware of their feelings
  • experience situations with less emotional reactivity
  • learn strategies to make better choices
  • develop strength and resiliency
  • practice kindness & compassion to self and others

Teens will learn and practice the benefits of gentle stretching, yoga, exercise, nutrition, mindfulness meditation, breathing and relaxation in caring for themselves. Self reflection will occur through journaling, activities and discussion.

Session 1 runs 10/4, 10/11 and 10/18/2017
Session 2 runs 10/25, 11/1 and 11/8/2017

Classes meet 4:30pm – 5:45pm
Cost is $165 for each 3-week program

Harriet Rubenstein, LCSW, certified in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction for Teens, has over 25 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults. Modalities include individual, group, family and couples.

My areas of interest and expertise include mindfulness, stress management, mood disorders including perinatal and postpartum, wellness, grief and loss, mindful parenting and cognitive-behavioral therapy. The importance of helping others build upon their strengths and inner resources to achieve wellness of mind, body and spirit is an underlying value in my practice. My experiences over the years, professionally and personally, has taught me that the ability to create balance in one’s life, to manage stress, to be present and to live in the moment are truly remarkable things to strive for. This becomes a way of life.

“This is a wonderful day. I’ve never seen this one before” – Maya Angelou
